28 JAN, 2015. A modern garri processing kitchen, built by Bridget Nwankwo SSL, has been completed at the Ilu Ireti Leprosarium in Akure, Nigeria, thanks to the generous support of the St Francis Leprosy Guild in England.
It is possibly the best thing to have happened to the women of the Ilu Ireti Leprosarium. It now makes the women feel they are in a palace, according to one of the female residents. Compared with the labour involved in making a few cupfuls of garri in the past, she said that they now feel that Providence has not created them to suffer, what with the ease they can now make enough garri to eat and even to sell!
