Thanks a million Misean Cara

29 May, 2013

The SSL Community was in a celebratory and joyful mood following the official opening of the new Mother and Child unit of the Centre De Santé St Louis d’Akpassi last month. A million thanks goes to Misean Cara, who generously provided the funds needed for the construction and equipping of the maternity block and the staff quarters.

The new Unit was officially opened by the Central Leadership Team (CLT), who were represented by Uainín Clarke SSL and Margaret Healy SSL. The Provincial Leadership Team (PLT), represented by Rita Akin-Otiko SSL and Janet Makinde SSL, was also present. This event was part of the activities lined up for the Canonical Visit of the CLT to the Akpassi community.

The opening ceremony commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic, which was attended by the staff of the clinic, villagers, parishioners and patients. The local community were overjoyed and believed this new facility would help the sisters’ efforts of bringing quality maternal and child care to the people of Akpassi and its environs.

After Mass, the blessing of the new maternity block and staff quarters took place. The priests, religious, members of the Advisory Board of the clinic, and some representatives of the larger community moved in procession round the clinic for the ritual of blessing. The villagers danced joyfully and expressed their gratitude to God and the Sisters of St Louis. The highlight of this ceremony was the birth of a set of baby twins, both girls. This was indeed a sign of God’s blessing on the clinic.

The Sisters of St Louis, Akpassi community, give thanks to God who made this momentous ceremony possible. They are deeply grateful to the CLT and PLT who helped to make their dream a reality. A million thanks in particular goes to Misean Cara, who generously provided the funds needed for the construction and equipping of the maternity block and the staff quarters.
