Chinyere Okpara SSL from the Grigny community in France, was one of approximately 300 people who travelled from the diocese of Évry, to Lisbon, Portugal, to celebrate World Youth Day (WYD) 2023, which took place from August 1-6. This included 290 youths, 55 of whom were from Poland. They left the diocese on July 23 and visited the Our Lady of Lourdes sanctuary in France, the sanctuary of Fatima in Portugal, along the way. A highlight of the WYD event was their meeting with Pope Francis, in which he summarized his message with these words: “listen”, “act”, and “do not be afraid.”
