30 MAR, 2020. Starting from the April issue of Musings (Issue 96), the Sisters of St Louis will be publishing a series of articles that encapsulates the St Louis ethos of education. The content of these articles, which will span seven issues until the end of this year, will be taken mostly from the St Louis School’s handbook, a copy of which is available in each St Louis School. We hope that in reading this series of articles and indeed the more detailed information contained in the St Louis School’s handbook, that our readers will gain a sense of the St Louis spirit which motivates the ethos of education in our schools.
When we go back to our Foremothers and Forefathers in St Louis, we find that they have a depth of wisdom about education, especially Catholic education, that is as relevant today as it was in their time. It is this wisdom and the tradition that carried it forward in the intervening years, and that inspired the publication of the St Louis School’s handbook.
We hope that in reading this series of articles and indeed the more detailed information in the St Louis School’s handbook, that all readers will gain a sense of the St Louis spirit that has (been used to) informed the education given in schools. We also hope that our readers and schools will have a sense that they are part of a larger St Louis family, all of us trying in our own way to put into practice those words of Christ so dear to our founders: Sint Unum, May they all be one!
Between now and the end of 2020, we will explore the following:
|April||Importance of Education to the founders of St Louis Congregation|
|May||St Louis Crest – The Logo of all St Louis Schools|
|June||Celebrating the Feast of St Louis|
||no article (schools on holidays)|
|September||Four Ways to Live Sint Unum - Education|
|October||Four Ways to Live Sint Unum - Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue|
|November||Four Ways to Live Sint Unum - Ecology and the Universe|
