First Profession of Vows for four Sisters in Nigeria Province

nigeriafirstprofession 250x25028 JANUARY, 2021. The First Profession of Vows of four sisters - Esther Pam Cheng, Linda Ogechi Christopher, Mary Remilekun John and Joan Swanta Samuel - was held on December 8, 2020 at St Louis Church, Akure, Nigeria. It was a day of joy for us and the entire mother church – family, friends, priests and religious. Bishops Jude Arogundade of the Catholic diocese of Ondo, and Emeritus Bishop Francis F. Alonge were both present. It is noteworthy here that this same ceremony would have been held on August 22 but for the pandemic.

The homily was followed by the presentation of the sisters for First Profession of Vows by their parents, and the rite of Profession of Vows by the Sisters, witnessed by the Novice mistress, Francisca Ola SSL, and the Provincial Leader, Christie Kure SSL, who received each sister’s Vows. There was great rejoicing and dancing by the sisters, their families and friends.

For the purpose of taking precautions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was no other gathering after the Mass. Instead the refreshments were packaged and shared to all who were present.
