‘Mother by Nature’ term coined for sisters in Lagos, Nigeria
21 DECEMBER, 2022. The Bakhita Empowerment Centre, in Lagos, Nigeria, for survivors of human trafficking, provides accommodation for up to 30 women, counselling, reintegration, skills acquisition, mindset-reset, and opportunities for uniting the survivors with their families. The centre refers to the returned victims of trafficking as “Treasures”. In the space of four months, the centre saw five of its treasures give birth to two girls and three boys. The sisters were so involved with their birth and post-natal care, that the term ‘Mother by Nature’ was coined.
