Sisters in Monaghan, Ireland, support refugees and immigrants through conversational English classes
21 DECEMBER, 2022. Fáilte Isteach is a nationwide community project involving predominantly older volunteers welcoming migrants through conversational English classes. In 2016, the Monaghan branch was established by Anne Jordan SSL. There were classes twice weekly until 2019, when Covid-19 put a stop to all gatherings. Thankfully, classes resumed in September, this time under the umbrella of the Monaghan Migrant Support Centre, which was officially launched by Heather Humphries TD, Minister for Rural and Community Development and Minister for Social Protection, last month. Sr Anne spoke at the launch.
