Sisters of St Louis in Akure, Nigeria, help raise awareness on World Down Syndrome Day

down syndrome day 2520x25027 APRIL, 2023. World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated each year on March 21. To mark the day, and as part of the Community-Based Rehabilitation strategy for improving the lives of children with disabilities in Akure, Nigeria, some of the students with Down Syndrome and other special needs at St Louis Nursery and Primary School, Akure, organized a small event in the Assembly area of the school to help them feel more accepted among their peers. Clara Azubuike SSL, who is the Coordinator of the Sisters of St Louis Community Based Rehabilitation (SSL CBR) in Akure and two of her colleagues, also visited the houses of two children with Down Syndrome and supported them with a cash donation and some foodstuff.
